A Look At The Fabulous Fatima's Wardrobe; She Is One of Lusaka's Fashion Icon

I met Fatima about three years ago. She was my "shoes client". I had just returned from the United Kingdom with lots of fabulous, classy shoes to re-sell. I remember at that time, I was selling the shoes at $100 each and a friend of mine introduced me to Fatima who got about five pairs at once! I was a happy seller ;-) . Since then, I have been her secret follower of her fashion.

She has a great sense of fashion and her collection is so unique. She doesn't put a price on looking good, that's what I like about her. Even her house represent her sense of style, she is a real classy lady. Hollywood must be missing a fashion icon ;-) .

LETS TAKE A LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY'S CLOSET.

Inside My Closet...(Vintage Sunday)

Okayyyy! So, last Sunday (yesterday), I decided to pull a Vintage dress and try to pull that 80's look when going to church. It wasn't bad I guess, though the whole outfit doesn't look "Vintage" but I loved it. The dress is very comfortable and it is a perfect fit. I just love it!
DRESS =us$0.50 & SHOES (Ebay UK) £5
BELT= us$0.50 & HEADWRAP= us$0.2
Here we go lol! The dress I am wearing was bought from a flea market here in Lusaka, Zambia we call it "salaula", you know, a second hand clothing market ;-) . In Europe (at least where I have been) you don't sell then on the streets but you can find them in "Charity shops" or "the Red Cross shops", I remember a few years ago when I was in Leicester, UK, I used to go to "carboot sales" to find some nice second hand goodies or clothes ;-) . And in Denmark, I still visit the "charity shops" from time to time ;-) . Oh YES! I do, you find very nice cloths and with nice labels there ;-) and at a very very nice price. In Zambia I would say "mutengo waku church" :-D meaning at a"church price".., it means they are really cheap.

Saturday

Make a fashion statement with a Headwrap this weekend.

Headwraps have been around for decades. And they have been commonly worn by African women. Headwraps also called head ties, have a very significant history in the African American community ( I will write about it in another article).

On the African continent, they have been most common in Southern and Western parts over the past years. Historically, headwraps, head ties or turban have different meanings and cultural statements in different countries. For example, in my country (Zambia) long ago, you would only see headwraps been worn by elderly women and young women would only wear them at the funerals. I guess its been the same in many African countries. In Zambia we call them "chitambala" in Nyanja (the most common name, we have 72 languages and they are called differently in other languages). In Malawi and Ghana the headwrap is called "duku", in Zimbabwe the headwrap is called "dhuku", in Botswana the headwrap is called "tukwi" and the Nigerians call it "gele".
Fashion revolves with time and the headwraps are no longer symbolises culture or spiritual or slavery or anything like that. It is the in-thing now! It is what is trending in the fashion industry at the moment. And you don't only see the African ladies wrapping it up, we have the white ladies rocking the head wraps too. That's the beauty of fashion, it has no race and it breaks all the boundaries.
Myself
I have added a few pictures as an inspiration for you. In case you are thinking of trying it. There are a lot of tutorials on youtube on to tie headwraps or turbans. I like headwraps myself and sometimes I use just a small piece and use it as a headband.

And remember, its all about colour ;-) .

Lupita Nyongo At The 2015 SAG AWARDS

Lupita Nyongo

She has become the world's favorite star. She is not just loved because she won an Oscar at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards but because she also has a very great sense of style. Lupita Nyongo has it all, she is talented, beautiful and when it comes to fashion, she surely knows how to pull it off. I was just looking at her pictures taken from the 2015 SAG Awards (Screen Actors Guild) which took place on 25th January. She looked amazing, the make up was just perfect. Her hair was nicely plaited. I especially liked the way her hair was done, purely African!

And her dress was a wow! The Kenyan Beauty wore a very nice vintage-inspired colourful dress  by Elie Saab. The colors worked so well with her skin tone, typical of Lupita Nyongo..,she loves colour and knows how great she looks in prints. She liked the dress so much that she had to wear the short version of it to the afterparty. The after party took place at Sunset Tower in West Hollywood on Sunday the 25th.

10 Office Outfits ideas (pick of the week)

Its a new week ladies and its back to the office. We all know that picking up cloths to wear to the office can be hectic sometimes. Personally, i have had trouble with choosing formal cloths in my closet an i believe its the same with most ladies.
TIP
Choose office cloths from your closet over the weekend. if you are at the office five days a week, then pick five outfits. I also know that, even if you are able to choose outfits for the whole week, you may find yourself not knowing what to wear. so pick outfits that you can easily mix and match. I have a few ideas for you.
LOOK ONE; I don't know what colour looks good on you but i like this combination of yellow and blue. its just simple and sexy, you can pull this one off. And it goes well on all skin colour.
LOOK TWO; Well, if you are anything like me, this will be your favourite look. I like dark colours and i think black goes well with any colour but this combination of nude makes it look even hotter and sassy! Best look if you are in your late 20s or in your 30s.
LOOK THREE; Like look two, this is a great combination of colour. the outfit is young and sexy, if you are in your early 20s, this is a perfect look for the office. I like the top, because you can easily remove the jacket and hit the party after work with the girls.
LOOK FOUR; Do you like colour? especially yellow? if yes, then this is for you. Yellow and grays..,wow! really great. I love this colour, am not a yellow fun but this combination makes me want to own yellow. I just love it. Its a great outfit for all ages.
LOOK FIVE; Here i go again with nudes and black..hehehehe! I LOVE nudes and black. This is a serious look for that meeting you will be having this week. I love the heels, really sexy. anyone can pull this look off.
LOOK SIX; oh YES! We are going white! believe me, i am not a fun of all white but there are those of you who love white and i think white looks really good with the right make-up on your face. Also mind the jewellery, you don't want to have too much bling bling because it might kill the who idea of "lady in white".
LOOK SEVEN; This look is like saying.."i mean serious business", its simple, its sophisticated and its really a perfect look for executives and people in higher positions ;-)

Wednesday

THREE BEST LOOKS OF THE DAY.

LOOK ONE
Here we have two best looks of the day. I am kind of a jean person and dull colours. if you are like me, i think you will love "look one". Perfect if you are going shopping or out with the girls. Its Chicky, its simple, its sexy and anyone can pull off these looks.
LOOK TWO
Or you can go with an easy but sassy look with this black dress with a yellow blazer, just to give it colour and not make it look boring. Then you have this simple but nice gold chunky chain that go well with the earrings., add the wedge sandals to complete the look and you are ready to go.

LOOK THREE
Or we can go with an Afro Mix look. very simple, nothing complicated and i like it. I like the dress, best for petite women.

SOLANGE KNOWELS, The Queen Of African Style in Hollywood

Solange Knowles, a mother, a songwriter, a singer, a model and a fashionista (my words). A lot of us know her simply of being the young sister of the queen herself  "Beyonce Knowles". but i personally follow her fashion trends and she never disappoint us with that. She has appeared in a number of well known magazines like VOGUE, ELLE, FADER to mention but a few.

My interest is her Afro style.., from her hair, make-up to her cloths, this 28years old super star has it all going. I mostly like her hair...,the big Afro hair..,you know..,like the Diana Ross hair. Its really cool and i have actually done it myself, it really looks sexy.
Anyway, lets have a look at her style. I consider her the queen of Afro style in Hollywood. There are a lot more celebrities in Hollywood that are embracing the Afro look in Hollywood, but i would say Solange Knowles rocks it better. Go girl, we love your STYLE!
